"Budapest’s skyline is full of buildings topped with colorful tiles. It graces the roofs of iconic structures like Great Market Hall and Matthias Church, which required five railway wagons full of roof tiles delivered to the construction site. These tiles were all manufactured right in Hungary at the Zsolnay Porcelain Factory.

The Hungarian National Asset Management Inc. (MNV) has sold the 240-year-old Hollóháza porcelain factory, responsible for the manufacturing of the illustrious Hungaricum, for 175 million forints (EUR 521,360), according to the information of economic site Napi.hu.

The Porcelain Factory of Óbuda was founded in 1906 by Tivadar Hüttl. The pieces were fabulous from the start, so the factory soon became the supplier of the royal court of Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary.

An exhibition showing more than 60 works by Salvador Dalí including drawings, lithographs, etchings and a few rarely seen figurines will open in the Reök Palace in Szeged on Friday, an art historian said. The core of the exhibition gives a cross section of works the Catalan surrealist master made from the 1960s until the 1980s, Róbert Nátyi said.

Bachar Najari, the majority owner Hungarian porcelain maker Zsolnay, on Wednesday repaid all of its debts owed to West Hungaria Bau, and asked the Zalaegerszeg court yesterday to immediately terminate a liquidation procedure against the company and to end the custodial oversight of Zsolnay, the company said in a statement.
